Dallas area dermatology team describes dermal fillers

Drs. Daniel Achtman and Carmine McConnell of the Dallas area have a practice with some of the latest and greatest technologies for achieving healthier, more beautiful bodies and skin. Our dermatology practice is dedicated to assisting new and existing patients in a wide range of improvements including cosmetic enhancement of the face. When issues; such as fine lines, wrinkles, and folds, are developing after skin laxity begins to worsen, patients may feel as though their only option is plastic surgery. Thankfully, other options exist which are not nearly as invasive. This includes the use of cosmetic injectables; such as dermal fillers.

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to enhance the appearance of the skin. They are usually made from hyaluronic which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. This substance likes to attract water so that skin looks fresher and more supple. Fillers add volume directly where it is needed: right into the fine lines, wrinkles, and folds of the face that are contributing to an aging look. These gels are all approved by the FDA for cosmetic use and can provide patients with the confidence they need in both business and personal relationships. The results from many of these dermal fillers can be enjoyed for approximately six months, or some a year or longer, depending on the amount used and the brand.

Some of the dermal fillers available in our practice include the following products:
  • Juvederm
  • Restylane Silk and Restylane Lyft
  • Voluma
Drs. Daniel Achtman and Carmine McConnell provide initial assessments of patients. They examine the skin and decide which injectable may be best suited for the specific areas of concern. One injectable may be better suited for an area; such as the nasolabial folds, another one may be better suited for thin lip line wrinkles. An evaluation is the first step in deciding what is best suited for you.

Once our dermatological team has decided the best injectable gel for the specific needs of the patient, they will schedule a time to complete the treatment. In just a few minutes, patients can have their injections completed and enjoy the benefits for several months following their first and only appointment. To maintain the results, patients may need other injections after six months, a year or even 2 years to continue to slow the signs of aging. Aging cannot be stopped, but can be amazingly slowed with injectables.
